Omaha Poker rules are similar to Texas Holdem rules, specially when it comes to casino equipment. The main difference is that at the start of the game every player is dealt four hole cards (not two as in Texas Holdem) and must use two of them in the combination of three of five community cards to form the hand.

The first stage of Omaha Poker game like in Texas Hold'em is called preflop during which the players are dealt four face down cards each. Two players next to the dealer make the forced bets, small and big blinds. Then the round of betting follows which is completed when all the players put the same amount to the pot.

Flop. After the first betting round three community cards which can be used to complete the players’ hands are placed on the poker table. The next betting round starts usually from the first player left to the dealer who didn’t fold the cards and is still in the hand.

When the betting round is finished the fourth community card or the turn is dealt face up on the table and the players bet again.

The last community card called the river is placed on the table and the last betting round occurs. As you see, all the rounds of the game are similar to each other.

Showdown. The players who haven’t folded the cards and are still in the hand reveal their cards and the winner is the one with the highest hand. Remember, that every player must use any three community cards and only two (not more!) hole cards to form the hand. This is the basic difference of Texas Holdem and Omaha Poker rules and it turns out to be the most difficult to grasp and follow.
